Hashma sandstone is a sedimentary rock, it comprises a cementing material that join the sand grains together and it might contain a form of silt/clay particles that fill the gap between these sand grains.

It is somehow soft, making it easy to be engraved and carved. It has been widely used around the world; and especially Egypt in setting up temples, homes, and much more.

Uses of Hashma Stone in Egypt.
Egyptian Hashma Stone is perfect for all indoor and outdoor applications; typical for the interior use; in indoor flooring, interior wall cladding, kitchen walls , fireplace and much more.
Also practical for the exterior use; in outdoor flooring, outdoor pavers, exterior wall cladding, stairways, pavers around the pool, fountains, statues, countertops in garden, balustrade, plant pots, benches, columns, table tops…etc.

Types of Egyptian Hashma Stone
Unfilled Hashma it comprises many tiny holes, it is caused from the trapped gas bubbles during its formation. This creates a porous surface, which is considered Unfilled Hashma.
Filled Hashma  When these holes are filled with cement or any other material, we call it Filled Hashma; it might be finished polished or honed to provide a uniform surface similar to that of the Egyptian marble/Egyptian limestone.
